Glad you still enjoyed despite it's flaws.<br /><br />Have seen the book in hardcover in person. It's very beautiful looking. For instance, Ysabel has more of a YA-like feel to the book, while The Taker, though very accessible, doesn't shy away from some darker themes and is definitely more for adults. Personally, I never though of Ysabel. Instead, comparison-wise, The Taker is in the vein of Interview with the Vampire and The Historian with a little Jacqueline Carey thrown in...<br /><br />Bets, the plot is pretty easy to follow, so you probably won't miss anything if you decide to skim through a few sections. I would read the first chapter though.
