This month we are featuring 24 books. There are more than twice as many new sff and related releases this month in traditional publishing not to speak of the countless indies from Amazon and Smashwords but we are limiting ourselves to books that will be reviewed here or are similar with such. For the full schedule of January 2012 titles known to us, you can consult the Upcoming Releases page.
The release dates are US unless marked otherwise, though for books released in the UK and US in the same month but on different dates we use the earliest date without comment and they are first edition unless noted differently. The dates are on a best known basis so they are not guaranteed; same about the edition information. Since information sometimes is out of date even in the Amazon links we use for listings, books get delayed or sometimes even released earlier, we would truly appreciate if you would send us an email about any listing with incorrect information.
Sometimes a cover image is not available at the time of the post and also sometimes covers change unexpectedly so while we generally use the Amazon one when available and cross check with Google Images, the ultimate bookstore cover may be different.

This month the books of great interest for me are Daemon Prism (read, rv jan 3), The Man who Rained (not have yet but an asap), In the Lion's Mouth (reading), Blue Remembered earth (buy on release), In the Mouth of the whale (buy on release), Heir of Novron (reading), Expedition to the Mountains of the moon (reading, The Great Game (reading).
ReplyDeleteIn addition I will take a look at Flame Alphabet upon release and maybe Transmission (as an UK novel this I need to buy and I may despite being so-so on Ragnarok 1)
I also have to do two earlier reviews (Maria Snyder and Odd?) and the rest as time/energy/mood goes.
I'm looking forward to reading "The Cloud Roads." It's a shame I probably won't get to it in January, but probably in February. I'm hoping it's as good as all the signs are indicating!
ReplyDeleteLiviu,
ReplyDeleteWhen you've read "Mountains of the moon" I'd be really happy to hear your take on the end. It cannot be talked about in the open as you will see. But it needs to be talked about.
You made me very curious - I am in a sfnal mood and i just finished In the Lion's Mouth which I greatly enjoyed, probably even more than January Dancer (liked but had reservations on Up Jim River) and I was planning to start that or Great Game, so now Burton and Swinburne 3 is next...
