I...Great advice about getting out of your own mold. I reckon an author's first book, or books, probably has characters that sit too comfortably within the author's head. At least, that was my experience with my first two books. Now, I'm interested in getting out of my head and thinking more about the motivations of others. I like your advice to get inspiration from real people you don't like too. I've got one such person in my life who I have in mind to be the inspiration for a character, and I'm trying to understand more about him.
