This
month we are featuring 36 books. There are more than twice as
many new sff and related releases this month in traditional
publishing not to speak of the countless indies from Amazon and
Smashwords but we are limiting ourselves to books that will be
reviewed here or are similar with such. For the full schedule of September 2012 titles known to us, you can consult the Upcoming Releases page.
The
release dates are US unless marked otherwise, though for books
released in the UK and US in the same month but on different dates
we generally use the US date and they are first
edition unless noted differently. The dates are on a best known
basis so they are not guaranteed; same about the edition
information.
Since information sometimes is out of date even in
the Amazon links we use for listings, books get delayed or
sometimes even released earlier, we would truly appreciate if you
would send us an email about any listing with incorrect
information.

September is a huge month in books with some of the most expected novels of the year (Hamilton, Weber, Weeks, Follett, Egan, Cameron), some huge but unexpected novels (Norfolk, Tan Twan Eng) and a few others of major interest (Rajaniemi, Ennis) and two series ending (Griffith and Rabuzzi) where i quite liked the first novels though I am not sure where I stand today with respect to them (read sort of Kingmakers and I will try to give it a more thorough read but I feel the first 2 volumes exhausted the series for me to a large extent)
ReplyDeleteSo far Weeeks, Weber, Norfolk and Tan Twan Eng delivered in spades (all may be top 10 novels, with Tan Twan Eng and Weeks currently #2-3 though essentially tied with #1 Sharps, and MTaT floating at #4-8 with Air war, Blood Song, Sacrifice Game and Jack Glass), Egan starts a bit slowly but already it seems to get very interesting on page 30 where I am now, Hamilton was very good but bloaty, so won't make my top 25 but will be first on the next list
Follett and Cameron are buys on release and Fractal Prince will see if I wait for the November US release
