Spotlight on June 2009 Books

This month Robert Thompson provided the book titles with additions by Cindy Hannikman, Liviu Suciu and Mihir Wanchoo. We are featuring 40 books.

Since we have quite a few books and we want to keep the post manageable and easily navigable, so people do not give up halfway through the list, we are doing just covers, titles, links, but no blurbs. Click on any link and you will find more information about the book or the author(s).

The release dates are US unless marked otherwise and the books are first edition unless noted differently. The dates are on a best known basis so they are not guaranteed; same about the edition information.

No problem :)

My goal in the spotlight is to have books that at least one of us here (including Robert) loves, looks forward to, believes he/she will love...

No meh books, books to be mentioned just because...

I have quite a few titles there that are big highlights for me, some that I thought I would love but did not...

Of "new for me" the one I am most looking forward to is Johannes Cabal, while I would give a try to Far North, Library Shadows and Everything Matters.

I have arcs of Relentless, Fragment and Third Sign and none was for me

Of "authors known by me",

I plan reviews of Nights (up), Angels' Game (tbd, read in Spanish, excellent), Best Served (tbd), Jasmyn (tbd), Overthrowing Heaven (read, tbd), Julian (done, tbp), Edge of the World (almost done, tbp), Death's Head 3 (read, tbd), Naamah's Kiss (tbd), NSO2 (tbd either by me or by Fabio or by both), Green (maybe), The Other City (maybe), while Witches Inc and Retribution Falls are books I will check out, but do not expect to do a full review

Just got my copy of Best Served Cold and Warbreaker at BEA. Now I have to get my hands on Green and Julian Comstock. And of Course The Angel's Game.

I appreciate Spotlight.

I live in Germany and ordered my copy of NIGHTS OF VILLJAMUR by Mark Caran Newton at amazon.uk. To my surprise I received the book on 30th of May!! Read 120 pages so far and I really like it.

to: The Mad Hatter

Hopefully someone here will review Warbreaker and I also hope Green will be the first Jay Lake novel I love - I like a lot of his short fiction and I loved the short story on which this one is based, but did not like Mainspring or Escapement.

I am happy you are enjoying Nights
