This month we are featuring 30 books. There are more than twice as many new sff and related releases this month in traditional publishing not to speak of the countless indies from Amazon and Smashwords but we are limiting ourselves to books that will be reviewed here or are similar with such. For the full schedule of December 2011 titles known to us, you can consult the Upcoming Releases page.
The release dates are US unless marked otherwise, though for books released in the UK and US in the same month but on different dates we use the earliest date without comment and they are first edition unless noted differently. The dates are on a best known basis so they are not guaranteed; same about the edition information. Since information sometimes is out of date even in the Amazon links we use for listings, books get delayed or sometimes even released earlier, we would truly appreciate if you would send us an email about any listing with incorrect information.
Sometimes a cover image is not available at the time of the post and also sometimes covers change unexpectedly so while we generally use the Amazon one when available and cross check with Google Images, the ultimate bookstore cover may be different.

Rise of Empire has been released already in the UK...
Good to know; many times Orbit UK releases books on the 1st, while US releases them later in the month, though I expect to see Rise of empire in stores by the 10 or so.
This month very little of interest, but January will be a month with lots of great (hopefully at least) releases.
In addition to the Rise of Empire reprint which contains two excellent Ryria installments, I read Hedgewitch Queen and Touch of Power (both quite good and will review), Count to a Trillion (great ideas but atrocious execution, will most likely review, though I may just do a short review as the book does not warrant too much effort) and I took a look at other books that left me meh (Himmler's War - I may read this one if in the mood but it is a standard AH from what i saw -, Emperor's Knife, Empire state).
Two books of interest I do no have - the third City book by Ian Whates is an asap as i read and reviewed 1/2 and Babylon Steel a try when out.
Artemis is a maybe - I liked the first 2 P. Palmer novels but I kind of got tired of his style and I have not yet read his third and fourth books despite that I have both, so this one, the 5th book is a maybe, sometime...
Nothing else really of interest though I may take a look at Turtledove too
