In other news, Lois Lowry's "The Giver," which won the Newberry Award in 1994, has been optioned to Warner Bros. The young adult novel is the first of a trilogy ("Gathering Blue", "Messenger") and centers on "a young boy from a seemingly utopian, futuristic world, who is singled out to receive special training from The Giver, who alone holds the memories of the true joys and pain of life." Let's hope the book actually makes it to the big screen this time...
