The young adult novel is the first of a trilogy ("Gathering Blue", "Messenger") and centers on "a young boy from a seemingly utopian, futuristic world, who is singled out to receive special training from The Giver, who alone holds the memories of the true joys and pain of life." Let's hope the book actually makes it to the big screen this time...
