According to Variety, Joe Hill’s debut “Heart-Shaped Box” will be adapted for film by director Neil Jordan (The Crying Game) for Warner Bros. Pictures. For those who may not know, two-time Bram Stoker Award-winner Joe Hill is the son of Stephen King.
Meanwhile, Cormac McCarthy's "The Road", the current Oprah Winfrey Book Club selection, will be adapted by screenwriter Joe Penhall (Enduring Love) and directed by John Hillcoat who directed the excellent movie The Proposition
Finally, comic book writer Grant Morrison, known for his work on JLA, New X-Men, All-Star Superman, Fantastic Four, The Flash, etc., has been tapped to write the adaptation for Midway's videogame series Area 51. Grant has written screenplays in the past including the Lawnmower Man sequels and WE3, which is currently in development.
