PRESS RELEASES: New Book Deals for John Jarrold Clients Ian Cameron Esslemont & Natasha Rhodes

John Jarrold has concluded a four-book World Rights deal for Canadian fantasy writer Ian Cameron Esslemont with Simon Taylor of Transworld Publishers. The first book, called “Stonewielder”, is due for delivery in September 2009, and publication in 2010.

Esslemont created the
Malaz world with Steven Erikson, and joined his co-creator in writing novels set in the world with “Night of Knives”, followed by “Return of the Crimson Guard”. Both of these books have been published in the UK by Transworld and are being published elsewhere in the world.

“I’m really delighted about this deal,” said
John Jarrold. “Simon Taylor and Transworld have shown their long-term belief in Cam Esslemont, at a time when much of the publishing world is wringing its hands over its shorter-term problems.”

John Jarrold has also concluded a deal for the third urban fantasy novel by US-based British author Natasha Rhodes with Christian Dunn of Solaris, the mainstream genre imprint of Games Workshop’s publishing division, BL Publishing. The book, entitled “Circus of Sins”, is due for delivery in August 2009, and will be published in 2010. The deal is for World Rights.

The previous books in her series featuring supernatural crime-fighter Kayla Steele are “Dante’s Girl” and “The Last Angel”, also published by
Solaris. Natasha has also written tie-in novels for Blade and Final Destination, and an original novel based on the film Nightmare on Elm Street.
