FBC: Authors & Their Favourite Books, Alec Hutson on China Meiville's The Scar (interviewed by Mihir Wanchoo)
Hello everyone, this is the ATFB series, Authors & Their
Favourite Books. This series is inspired by hearing about authors talk
about what books inspired them to become wordsmiths in their own right.
Today we have with us Alec Hutson,
who is a special guest for FBC readers. His debut book The Crimson Queen is our
highest rated SPFBO book that we have put forward in all 7 editions of the
competition. It has a special place in our hearts and Alec is a writer that we think
should be considered one of epic fantasy’s finest (He alongside Brian Staveley
and James Islington are whom we consider to be the titans of the future).
He has chosen China MiĆ©ville’s THE SCAR. We chatted about how Alec first came
upon this book and why he loves it so much. What makes China MiƩville so unique
and why this this title along with the New
Crozubon series is a mustread for fantasy fans.
Therefore, it is my sincere hope that you enjoy this
conversation and please feel free to let us know what you think either in the
comments below or comments on the Youtube video.
