First off, congratulations to James Neuschwander (PA) who was randomly selected to win a whole SET of Robin Hobb's Soldier Son trilogy including copies of "Shaman's Crossing", "Forest Mage" and "Renegade's Magic", all thanks to EOS Books!
Secondly, in case you didn’t know, I just came back from vacation a couple of weekends ago, and since then I’ve been working my ass off to get caught up with everything. So, only recently did I get a chance to sit down and see what’s been going on in the rest of the blogosphere and here’s some of the links that caught my eye:
Year-End Lists:
~Adventures In Reading provides several lists including his Top Nine Books Published in 2007, The Nine Best Reads of 2007 and Nine Author Discoveries in 2007.

~Neth Space’s Year In Review
~NextRead’s the Year In Review
~OF Blog of the Fallen’s 2007 In Review, some Anticipated 2008 Releases, a look back at the Best of 2006 Debut Novelists, and so many other posts that I highly recommend that you give yourself a few hours to appreciate all of the excellent End-of-the-Year goodness that the blog has to offer :)
~Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist’s 2007 Year-End Awards: The Hotties
~Rob’s Blog o’ Stuff has posted A Review of Rob’s Readings
~SciFiChick’s Top 13 SciFi/Fantasy Picks of 2007
~SF Signal’s A Year In Review – John’s Take
~SFFWorld’s 2007 Best Read Reviews: Part I + Part II. I’m a little biased with this one since I was asked to contribute to it along with A Dribble of Ink, Graeme’s Fantasy Book Review and The Wertzone (Thanks Mark & Rob for the invite!), but the website and forum have a lot of other great stuff to offer, so be sure to check out SFFWorld if you haven’t already…
~The Bodhisattva’s Best Reads of 2007
~The Breathing Corpse’s Best Reads of the Year – Horror, Comic Books Collected, Pulp/Men’s Adventure, Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Monthly Comic Books. Also, David’s 2008 Books I Can’t Wait To Read!
~The Gravel Pit’s The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
~The Wertzone Awards for SF&F Novels in 2007
Reviews and other stuff:
~Charlie Huston’s “Half the Blood of Brooklyn”, one of my favorite books of 2007 (Reviewed HERE) has been reviewed by Graeme’s Fantasy Book Review and OF Blog of the Fallen.
~Del Rey has announced an original, full-color graphic novel set in the universe of Diana Gabaldon's New York Times-bestselling Outlander novels. Diana is scripting the book herself with illustrations underway by award-winning artist Hoang Nguyen (The Punisher, Metal Militia). The book will appear sometime in 2009 and you can read the full press release HERE.
~Fantasy & Sci-fi Lovin’ Book Reviews covers Patricia Briggs’ new Mercedes Thompson book “Iron Kissed” HERE.
~FORA.tv which provides discourse, discussions and debates on the world's most interesting political, social & cultural issues, delivers an interesting & lengthy video HERE featuring Anthony Lappe & Dan Goldman, the creators from the excellent “Shooting War” graphic novel.
~George R. R. Martin has provided a new excerpt HERE from his forthcoming A Song of Ice & Fire novel “A Dance With Dragons”.
~Joe Abercrombie’s “Last Arguments of Kings”, the third book in The First Law trilogy has been reviewed by Graeme’s Fantasy Book Review, Sandstorm Reviews and The Wertzone.
~J.V. Jones’ “A Sword From Red Ice” was reviewed HERE by Graeme’s Fantasy Book Review.
~Neth Space reviews Richard Dansky’s “Firefly Rain” HERE. This book is the first release from the new Wizards of the Coast Discoveries imprint and is a book that I’ve been looking forward to, although I’m not sure if I’ll get a chance to read it. Speaking of Wizards of the Coast Discoveries, Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist also recently reviewed another launch title in J.M. McDermott’s “Last Dragon” HERE.
~The Signed Page has been busy, taking preorders for the following:
1) “Dragon Harper” signed by Todd McCaffrey (Preorder HERE)
2) “Renegade’s Magic” signed by Robin Hobb (Preorder HERE)
3) “Dark Wraith of Shannara” graphic novel signed by Terry Brooks (Preorder HERE)
4) “Reaper’s Gale” (US Version) signed by Todd Lockwood (Preorder HERE)
5) “Small Favor” signed by Jim Butcher (Preorder HERE)
6) “The Dreaming Void” (US Version) signed by Peter F. Hamilton (Preorder HERE).
~Lastly, here are trailers for three flicks that I’m really looking forward to in 2008: Hellboy II: The Golden Army, The Dark Knight and Wanted. Of the three, I’m most excited for The Dark Knight since the Joker is one of, if not my favorite villain of all time, but I have to admit that the trailer for Hellboy II looks better. Sadly, I’m disappointed with the direction that the filmmakers have gone with the Wanted adaptation, but I’m still hoping for the best!
