Dabel Brothers presents George R. R. Martin’s “Wild Cards: The Hard Call”!
Credit Newsarama with this scoop HERE which is a First Look at a comic book series set in George R. R. Martin’s shared world Wild Cards and brought to you by the Dabel Brothers (Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein, Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files). The six-issue mini-series “The Hard Call”—launching in April—is written by novelist Daniel Abraham (The Long Price Quartet, Hunter’s Run) with artwork by Eric Battle (Batman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern), and is an original story that takes place in present time as the alien virus strikes again:
“The survivors are rushed to New York City's clinic for those affected by the virus. And while one student has drawn the joker, two more have discovered that they are Aces—one with the power to release electricity from his body, and another with the ability to travel through mirrors. Meanwhile, Croyd Crenson, the ace known as “The Sleeper”, has been framed for murder in the New York City slum known as Jokertown...and he's not going to rest until he clears his name.”
Having recently read and reviewed the new Wild Cards novel “Inside Straight” (the review will be posted Friday), I really enjoyed what the Wild Cards universe has to offer, and as a fan of both comic books and Daniel Abraham, I definitely plan on checking this out :) By the way, you can also view the artwork at the Official Dabel Brothers Website and I’m sure a press release will be released shortly.
