2008 FAVORITES:
1) “The Audacity of Hope” by Barack Obama
2) “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: The Black Dossier” by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill. Even more Post-Modern than the first two books, and post-modernity doesn't always make for an emotionally engaging read, but Moore always finds something interesting and surprising in every tale.
3) “Firestarter” by Stephen King. Not one of his best, by a long shot, but it was one of the few early Kings that I hadn't read.
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2009:
None. I like to be surprised by stumbling across them in the bookshop.
ON THE HORIZON FOR MARK CHADBOURN:
Slightly embarrassed by the number of trees I'm killing in 2009. Don't blame me . . . blame the publishers!
“World’s End” (Age of Misrule Book One). US Release Date: May 26, 2009. Published by Pyr Books.
“The Burning Man” (Mass Market Paperback). UK Release Date: June 11, 2009. Published by Gollancz.
“Darkest Hour” Age of Misrule Book Two). US Release Date: June 23, 2009. Published by Pyr Books.
“Always Forever” Age of Misrule Book Two). US Release Date: July 28, 2009. Published by Pyr Books.
“The Lord of Silence”. Release Date: July 28, 2009. Published by Solaris.
“Destroyer of Worlds”. UK Release Date: August 20, 2009. Published by Gollancz.
